The sermonĀ titled “Jesus; Tempted and Tried” was delivered by the Rev. Sunday Oladoyinbo (Assisting Priest).
He exhorted the congregation, and enlightened on how much of the temptations that come the way of a Christian is as a result of the lust of the hearts and flesh (James 1vs 14). Admonished all Christians to endure and strife to overcome temptation as there is always a reward afterwards (James 1vs12). He also encouraged the congregation to pray and ask for the grace to overcome temptations like Jesus did, stating amongst others that:
– All Christians more importantly, youth must abstain from youthful lusts but follow righteousness, faith, charity etc. (2Tim 2vs 22), and not be enticed by ephemeral things.
-Temptation if not overcome draws one into sin
– Christians must rid themselves of idolatry (1 Corinthians 10vs14).
– Christians must submit themselves to God, Resist the devil and he will flee. As in James 4vs7.
– Christians must have an in-depth understanding of the word of God. Like Jesus, who defeated the devil by applying the word of God accordingly.
